Supporting Survivors

August 22, 2023

“Supporting a survivor of sexual violence can be daunting. You might be afraid of saying or doing ‘the wrong thing’. But you don’t have to be an expert.” – Rape Crisis England & Wales

It can be difficult to know what to say or do but sometimes the best thing you can do is to be there, listen believe and show your support.

TheSurvivorsTrust have a page full of tips and examples of things to say to a survivor to help diminish any self-blame or shame the survivor might be feeling.

The Survivors Network have a page with tips on supporting a survivor, as well as a downloadable self-help guide for supporters.
